[STORY]
A young policewoman is afflicted by a strange illness wherein various artworks induce in her a state of complete deliria and insanity whenever she sees them. A vicious serial psychopath whom she is investigating kidnaps, rapes and tortures her, only to let the woman escape. After various traumatizing encounters, she begins to fall into a deeper abyss of horror, as it seems that the killer is always around (maybe even closer than she thinks). The latest production from the popular master of Italian horror films Dario Argento, this film marks a more minimalist approach to his visual set-pieces, but piles on the sadism and psychological cruelty for his protagonist, played by his very talented and beautiful daughter Asia. This film also marks the return of Ennio Morricone (The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Mission) as his composer, delivering a very eerie sing-song style score. Also appearing is Paolo Bonacelli, best known to genre enthusiasts as one of the ultra-sadistic bourgeois torturers in Pier Paolo Passolini's notorious Salo: The 120 Days of Sodom.
