[STORY]
Argento's episode, "The Black Cat", opens with a shot of the naked torso of a woman, victim of the assassin by the method of the "The pit and the pendulum." While the suspended pendulum oscillates over the sliced body, the photographer of black chronicles Rod Usher photographs the scene to include the images in his next published book, the theme being metropolitan horrors. However he still needs another strong photo for the cover. When his girlfriend Annabel carries a black cat home, Rod strangles the animal with a drawstring to photograph its agony, but everything is complicated for him from that moment on. At first Rod dreams of having returned to the Middle Ages and is accursed by a Witch who resembles Annabel, who has him killed by means of a ritual impalement. But is only a nightmare. Then however, Rod, always upset, gets drunk and continues to be persecuted from the memory of the killed cat. During another night while drunk, the photographer is given a cat perfectly equal to the one he has killed, to placate the suspicions of Annabel. Rod however could not avoid also killing this second black cat but, while he does, Annabel witnesses his crime. After killing Annabel, Rod hides the body in a wall of bricks and sets up a plan to justify her sudden disappearance. But the black cat that he had walled up close to the dead body of his lover was in a state of pregnancy. Feeding off the meat of her, the kittens cause the downfall of Rod, giving away their presence close to the dead body with their moans.
"The case of Mr. Valdermar," directed by George A.Romero, is the story of a man in agony, immobilized to bed, kept alive with the hypnosis and involved in a grisly family plot. But unexpectedly, his death occurs while under hypnosis, and he doesn't succeed to overcome the boundary of the other world completely. And when the door of the death remains opened from the zombie husband, for the wife and the physician husband, there will be no escape.
